A good read- recommended. One frustrating point though, is where the author often refers to people he interacts with throughout his career in an oblique manner i.e. not proving names, which leaves the reader trying to second guess who they might be! Pete

Only just seen this post, forgive me for being a bit out of touch, may I ask if this is Chris Johnson Eng Tech AP who rose to Warrant Officer? If so “Stumpy” Cornah and I were on a tour in Belize with Chris and attended a memorable and very liquid Halton apprentice reunion together. I would appreciate it very much if I could receive the details of this sad loss by e-mail,as Kim (phil) Tyler and I would like to raise a glass in his honour.Our thoughts as ever are with his family at this time. What is the accommodation situation like near RAF Valley please. All those travelling on the coach from Stamford and other areas of Europe will require accommodation.

The IV(AC) Sqn History book produced for the 90th anniversary has a picture on the back page of ZG532 being flown over the “Blue Hole” in Belize. The back cover photo description states “ The Blue Hole, off the coast of Belize, overflown by Andy Suddards”. I’ve scanned it and tried to zoom in on the name with the same result can’t quite make out the name but looks like Sqn Ldr J Bewse. Hope this is some help!

Outrageous beyond words. For those interested, the 2 Harriers saved for UK museums (the remains of the 72 sold for a song to the US Marine Corps) are: ZG477 GR9A in 1 Sqn special markings and ZD433 GR9A in 1 Sqn markings complete with Afghan mission symbols. Both have been roaded to the RAF Museum Cosford and the Fleet Air Arm Museum Yeovilton respectively.
