The sortie was a famil ride while on a ground tour and well before I was posted to the Harrier and that the aircraft was XW269, before it was delivered to the Service from Hawkers.
Eighteen months later I arrived on IV Sqn as the new B Flt commander to find that XW269 was the Squadron’s T Bird; quite a coincidence! Needless
to say I clocked up quite a few trips in the jet in both front and back seats.
