Association Dinner – 28th Jan – Further Details

This just in from James on the Sqn:

Some further details about dinner: Partners are welcome. We can accommodate approximate 135 people on a first come, first served basis. We’ll need about 80 people min to make it work in the mess otherwise we’ll have to explore other options. Also, I know it is very late but the Mess Manager needs to know whether we’ll make this by Thu this week (20th). Timings for the day are subtly different:
  • 0900 Guests arrive
  • 1000 Disbandment Parade
  • 1145-1300 Lunch (provided)
  • 1230 IV Sqn building open to the association
  • 1330 Depart for laying-up ceremony in Stamford
  • 1400-1500 Laying-up ceremony
  • 1900 for 1930 Dinner
Cheques should be made out to RAF WITTERING NONPAS with IV Sqn Association Dinner annotated on the back. Hopefully that’s it for now! James

    Dear Chris,

As the Squadron’s GLO from 1990 to 1993 at Gutersloh and Laarbruch, I am sad to learn that “Happy IV” is to disband. If I was in Europe, I would be there standing with you all on 28 January 2011. I shall therefore remember the guys that day. I realise of course that everyone I served with will have gone by now; nevertheless it is the same old Squadron that I served and commands my memories and loyalty.

To all those who may possibly remember me, my best wishes from here in Kathmandu.

Bless you all. From Major Maniprasad Rai Formerly 7th. Duke of Edinburgh’s Own Gurkha Rifles.

I am really sorry but I will not be able to attend the Dinner because I am in Australia. This is a very sad occasion for the Squadron and very disturbing for the current members – we hope that there are better days ahead. Please pass my apologies to the Boss, Wg Cdr Simon Jessup, and my best wishes to all at the Disbandment Parade and Dinner.

    In Futurum Videre.

    Hi Chris,

Thank you for the e-mail, unfortunately much as I would like to attend I am stuck at home unable to drive having had an operation on both hands!

I would be very grateful if you could pass on my apologies and would very much like to stay in contact wih the association for any future events. Look forward to hearing from you again sometime,

    Best wishes, Mike

  • I don’t suppose you could send a couple of barrels anyway? 😉

    Get well soon Mike!

  • This dinner will now take place at the George Hotel in Stamford instead of the Officers’ Mess at Wittering – see:
